Tottenham Hotspur completes £52 million signing of defender Jan Paul van Hecke
Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for defender Jan Paul van Hecke, reportedly for a fee of £52 million. The Dutch centre‑back, who started the Netherlands’ World Cup opener and previously played under Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, will reunite with the coach in north London.
The deal follows Tottenham’s earlier summer acquisitions of defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers. Reports from The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano indicate personal terms have been sealed and a third bid, expected to be around £55 million, is imminent to finalise the transfer.
