Cody Gakpo Linked to €70 million Move as Tottenham Leads Transfer Race

Dutch forward Cody Gakpo remains under contract at Liverpool until 2030 and has not formally submitted a transfer request, according to journalists Alex Crook and Ben Jacob. Both sources say suggestions that Gakpo asked to leave are “wide of the mark.” Liverpool’s new manager Andoni Iraola has confirmed the club is not actively seeking to sell, but interest has mounted after a poor 2025‑26 season and the departure of Mohamed Salah and former coach Arne Slot.

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be the frontrunner, preparing an offer of around €70 million (£63 million) for the 27‑year‑old. Newcastle United and Bayern Munich have also been linked, with Newcastle cited at roughly £60 million. Gakpo earns about £250,000 a week, making any departure financially significant for Liverpool, which may use a sale to fund a squad rebuild.

While some media claim Gakpo has told the club he wants out, the journalists cited dispute that claim, emphasizing that no official request has been lodged. The situation highlights Liverpool’s need to replace Salah and restructure the attacking line‑up ahead of the summer window.
