Tottenham Hotspur signs Sandro Tonali and targets Celtic midfielder Arne Engels

Tottenham Hotspur completed the €115 million transfer of Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, raising his cumulative career fees to about €194.4 million and making him the most expensive Italian player ever. The deal follows the club’s earlier acquisitions of Mateus Fernandes and the £50 million‑valued Lucas Bergvall, reflecting owner ENIC’s willingness to back manager Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield rebuild.

Spurs are now linked with 22‑year‑old Belgian international Arne Engels, who helped Celtic win a domestic double last season. Several clubs – including Fulham, AS Roma, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Nottingham Forest, which has already submitted a formal offer – are also interested. Tottenham’s pursuit of Engels is seen as a strategic move to reinforce the midfield while potentially allowing Bergvall to leave for regular playing time.
