Tottenham Hotspur to start contract talks with defender Micky van de Ven
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to open formal, long‑term contract negotiations with Dutch centre‑back Micky van de Ven. After initially signalling a desire to leave, the 24‑year‑old’s performances under new manager Roberto De Zerbi – including a stint as captain and a key role in the club’s recent Premier League survival – have persuaded the club to try to retain him. The talks follow recent contract renewals for other players such as Ben Davies, Antonin Kinsky, and Pedro Porro, and come as Spurs have already added defenders Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and others to the squad. Van de Ven is also being considered as a potential future captain should Cristian Romero depart.
