Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed disappointment, noting that the team is not yet a cohesive unit. He cited physical fitness issues, partly due to players returning late from the 2026 World Cup, as a factor in the loss. De Zerbi emphasized that while the club has invested heavily in new talent like Sandro Tonali, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi, building a team requires time, spirit, and a defined playing style.

In response to the poor start, De Zerbi has reportedly requested further reinforcements. The club is currently involved in negotiations for several players, including a potential double deal for Savinho and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, as well as interest in Liverpool's Cody Gakpo to bolster the attack.
