Tottenham Hotspur secures first Premier League win of the season

Tottenham Hotspur secured their first Premier League victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The win moves the club off the bottom of the table to 16th place with six points.

James Maddison, making his first competitive start since May 2025 following a long-term injury, opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a long-range strike. Coventry City equalized through Jack Rudoni shortly after halftime, but Omar Marmoush restored the lead for Tottenham with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Ben Davies sealed the victory with a goal in stoppage time.

The match also marked the return of Dejan Kulusevski, who appeared as a substitute after being sidelined for 526 days due to a serious knee injury. Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi had previously implemented strict measures to improve team cohesion, including banning mobile phones during group meals during a recent training camp in Marbella.
