Toulenne: Man killed in Kalashnikov shooting

A man in his thirties was killed by gunfire on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Toulenne, a commune in the Gironde department near Langon. The victim was reportedly inside his home with a friend and his father-in-law when a vehicle arrived at the scene.

According to reports, two hooded individuals emerged from the vehicle and opened fire using an automatic weapon, described as a Kalashnikov, in bursts. The victim and his friend were targeted inside a car. Following the shooting, the attackers fled the scene. A vehicle, believed to be used by the assailants, was later discovered burned in the nearby commune of Illats.

The Bordeaux Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and motives behind the homicide. Local officials noted that the victim was a long-term resident of the community.
