Toulouse libraries launch Bibliotransfo renovation project

The Toulouse libraries, specifically the Médiathèque José Cabanis and the Bibliothèque d’étude et du patrimoine, are undergoing a transformation project known as Bibliotransfo. This initiative aims to reinvent library spaces to better meet the evolving needs and practices of their users.

Following a series of participatory workshops, surveys, and experiments, the agency Collection Architectes has developed new layout proposals based on feedback from staff, partners, and the public. The project timeline includes presenting graphic proposals to librarians in July 2026, intermediate proposals to users in October 2026, and provisional sketches in December 2026. An exhibition detailing the project's stages and contributions will be held at the Médiathèque José Cabanis starting in December.
