Toulouse metro construction site death triggers homicide investigation
An investigation for ‘involuntary homicide in a work context’ has been launched following the death of a worker at the Toulouse metro Line C construction site on August 3. The victim, a 48-year-old temporary employee from a subcontracting company, died during his first day on the site while performing handling operations on a viaduct between the Labège Gare and Diagora stations.
An autopsy determined that the worker suffered a ‘crushing’ injury. This marks the third worker fatality recorded during the construction of this metro line. The investigation has been assigned to the Villefranche-de-Lauragais gendarmerie research brigade and the Haute-Garonne labor inspectorate. Alstom, which is in charge of the construction site, stated it is cooperating with the investigation.
