Toulouse named a global city to watch by Oxford Economics

Toulouse has been identified as a “city to watch” in the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2026. The city was recognized for its remarkable growth prospects, particularly regarding its economic activities and demographic trends.

The index evaluates major metropolises based on five criteria: economy, human capital, quality of life, environment, and governance. Toulouse achieved an overall score of 67.9, with high marks in environment (84.7) and quality of life (79.3).

Economic drivers for the city include a strong aeronautics industry featuring companies such as Airbus, Thales, and Liebherr, alongside growing sectors in information and communication technologies and business services. The city is also expected to see significant demographic growth, with an estimated 57,000 new residents.
