Toulouse protester seriously injured during demonstration

A 20-year-old man sustained severe hand injuries during a demonstration in the Arènes district of Toulouse on Saturday, October 24. The Haute-Garonne prefecture confirmed that the individual was treated by emergency services for a serious hand injury during the dispersal of a crowd.

While official circumstances remain unknown, an anonymous street medic reported that the victim suffered a severe injury to his right hand, including the loss of several fingers, allegedly caused by the explosion of a nearby device. The incident occurred as protesters armed with stones and bottles clashed with law enforcement, who utilized tear gas and encirclement grenades.

Attendance figures for the demonstration varied significantly, with the prefecture reporting 26,500 participants and the CGT union estimating 80,000. A judicial investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the injury.
