Toulouse rail traffic disrupted after train hits car

A car was struck by a TER regional train at a level crossing in Belberaud, near Toulouse, on Sunday afternoon. The accident caused significant damage to signaling infrastructure and resulted in a total suspension of rail traffic between Toulouse and Narbonne.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman approximately 40 years old, required extrication from her car and was transported to a hospital in Toulouse in critical condition. While the 200 passengers on the train were reported to be in good health, they were evacuated by bus to Toulouse.

SNCF has indicated that rail services are expected to be heavily disrupted until at least Monday noon due to the extent of the infrastructure damage and the time required for technical diagnostics.
