Toumaï Connect launches program to combat adulterated alcohol in Chad

The social incubator Toumaï Connect (ISTC) and the association Racine et Vigilance have launched an integrated prevention program to combat adulterated alcoholic beverages in Chad's Mayo-Kebbi Ouest province.

Following a field survey of nearly 400 people, the program addresses alarming findings: 81.3% of respondents consider the phenomenon widespread, and young men aged 18 to 24 are identified as the most affected group. The initiative will feature an eight-part strategy, including community prevention, health guidance, and a two-tier surveillance architecture consisting of cantonal committees and village sub-committees.

The program aims to foster cooperation between public authorities, the private sector, and local populations without resorting to community-led sanctions or closures. A six-month pilot phase will precede any potential expansion.
