Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes 2026 preview: stage route and Visma’s leaders Van Aert, Jorgenson

The 2026 Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes (formerly the Critérium du Dauphiné) opens on 7 June with a 146‑km stage starting in Vizille. Riders will face a series of climbs, including the Col de l’Arzelier (5.7 % over 8.6 km), Côte de Seyssins (6 % over 2.6 km), Côte de Quaix‑en‑Chartreuse (9.2 % over 2.3 km), Col de Vence (6 % over 5.1 km) and the final, toughest ascent, Côte de Rousset (7.6 % over 8.2 km). Forecasts call for dry, sunny weather with temperatures up to 27 °C.

Visma | Lease a Bike has announced its roster for the race, naming Dutch rider Wout van Aert and American Matteo Jorgenson as team leaders. Van Aert returns after his 12 April Paris‑Roubaix victory, while Jorgenson makes his comeback following a broken collarbone at the Amstel Gold Race. Team manager Maarten Wynants said the squad is “strong” and aims for the best possible result. Jorgenson added, “My idea doesn’t change: I want to win.” The lineup also includes Jorgen Nordhagen, Per Strand Hagenes, Edoardo Affini and Bruno Armirailen among others.
