The historic Critérium du Dauphiné has been renamed the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes for its 78th edition in 2026, positioning the race as the premier preparatory event for the Tour de France. The route highlights central France and includes a team‑time‑trial start in Barcelona, followed by classic hilly stages and a demanding mountain finale.

Stage 3, scheduled for 9 June, is a 28.4 km team‑time‑trial around Perreux, featuring 426 m of climbing and a steep final 800 m. The format records each rider’s individual time. Leading squads such as Lidl‑Trek, Visma‑Lease a Bike, Netcompany INEOS, and Decathlon CMA CGM are favoured, with riders like Isaac del Toro, Juan Ayuso, Paul Seixas and Oscar Onley among the starters. Notable absences include Jonas Vingegaard, who is resting after his Giro win, and Tadej Pogačar, who will target the Tour de Suisse. The start list features a mix of established stars and emerging talents, underscoring the race’s role as a key test before July’s Tour de France.
