Tadej Pogacar wins Tour de France stage 10, widens overall lead

Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar claimed a solo victory on the 10th stage of the 2026 Tour de France, finishing in Le Lioran after attacking on the Col de Pertus with about 15 km to go. The 166.6‑km stage featured roughly 3,800 m of climbing and unusually high temperatures of 35‑40 °C, prompting concerns about heat stress for the peloton. Pogacar’s win stretched his overall advantage to 3 minutes 36 seconds over Danish challenger Jonas Vingegaard, 32 seconds over Belgian Remco Evenepoel and 34 seconds over French rookie Paul Seixas. The victory marked his third stage win of the Tour and further solidified his position as the race favourite.

In related coverage, Pogacar warned that the extreme summer heat should lead to a redesign of the cycling calendar, while the riders’ union CPA called for earlier start times to mitigate heat exposure. Teams such as UAE Team Emirates‑XRG are increasingly using data platforms and AI to optimise training, nutrition and race tactics. Speculation also surfaced about Pogacar potentially targeting the 2026 Vuelta a España after the Tour, a move that would complete his Grand Tour “Triple Crown” ambitions.
