Several Tour de France teams have lodged complaints about the quality of the hotels assigned to them during the race. Riders reported dirty rooms, insects, broken fixtures, lack of climate control, no Wi‑Fi and inadequate food provisions. Swiss rider Silvan Dillier described his team’s hotel as “the most messed up hotel I have ever seen,” noting mold in the shower and a broken toilet‑paper holder. Norwegian Anders Johannessen filmed spider webs and insects in his room and moved his night‑rest to the balcony. The complaints have been echoed by other squads, including Alpecin‑Premier Tech, Uno‑X Mobility and Picnic PostNL.
Tour director Christian Prudhomme acknowledged the issues but emphasized the logistical challenges of allocating accommodations across France. He said the organization strives for fairness by rotating teams among hotels so that each squad ultimately receives an equal share of star‑rated rooms over the three‑week race.
