The 2026 Tour de Gran Bretaña is scheduled to take place from September 2 to September 6, serving as a key preparation event for the World Championships. The race features five stages across various terrains, including hilly and flat routes.

Stage 4, held on September 5 from Helmsley to Leyburn, is identified as a critical day for the general classification. The final 65 kilometers include three consecutive climbs, notably a 3.5-kilometer ascent at an 8.2% gradient toward Redmire. Tim Wellens is a primary favorite for this stage, currently trailing Lewis Askey by 12 seconds. Other contenders for the stage include Florian Vermeersch of UAE Team Emirates, Jasper Stuyven, Matteo Trentin, and Filippo Ganna.
