Tour de North cycling event begins in British Columbia

The 2026 Cops for Cancer Tour de North commenced on September 11, beginning in Fort St. John. The annual event involves police officers and emergency service personnel cycling across northern British Columbia to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Thirteen riders are participating in the 850-kilometre journey, which is scheduled to conclude in Williams Lake on September 17. Proceeds from the event support childhood cancer research and pediatric programs, such as Camp Goodtimes.

Among the participants is Nick Piot, a Vanderhoof paramedic with the B.C. Ambulance Service and a member of the Nechako Valley Search and Rescue team. Piot described the first leg of the ride to Dawson Creek as an amazing experience, noting significant community support along the route.
