Tour de Rock begins 1,200-kilometre journey across Vancouver Island
The 2026 Tour de Rock has officially commenced its 1,200-kilometre journey across Vancouver Island. The event began with a significant sendoff in Port Alice, where a community of approximately 739 residents raised $26,853.73 to support the cause.
A 22-person riding team, including participants Greg Beatty and Jalil Escareno, completed an initial leg of nearly 100 kilometres, traveling from Port Alice through Port Hardy to Port McNeill. The journey involves multiple stages, including a demanding 146-kilometre ride from Port McNeill to Sayward.
The tour is supported by a large logistical team, including motorcycles, U-Hauls, and medical staff, to ensure the safety and progress of the riders. Local communities along the route have participated through student-led fundraisers and welcoming events.
