Tour de Rock cycling team arrives in Campbell River
The 2026 Tour de Rock cycling team arrived in Campbell River on Tuesday, September 22, following a 96-kilometre ride from Sayward. The 22-person team is traveling through communities across the North Island to support cancer fundraising efforts.
Derek Chaloner, a Victoria-based RCMP officer, is part of the team. Chaloner, who previously served with the Calgary Police Service, joined the tour due to a personal family history with cancer and a desire to explore Vancouver Island. He noted that meeting families directly impacted by the tour's fundraising has made the campaign's goals feel more tangible.
