Tour de Rock reaches Nanaimo with $400,000 raised
The 2026 Tour de Rock has surpassed the 700-kilometre mark, with the 22-person peloton arriving in Nanaimo on Sunday, September 27. The charity cycling event has raised more than $400,000 to date.
As the tour enters its final five days, riders are navigating both physical exhaustion and the emotional weight of meeting families affected by cancer. Rider Mary Schidlowsky, a paramedic and reserve constable, described the journey as an “emotional roller coaster” due to the personal stories shared by honorary riders and the community.
The 1,200-kilometre tour is scheduled to conclude in Victoria on October 2. Following their stop in Nanaimo, the riders are set to head toward Duncan as they push toward the finish line.
