Tour de Rock team receives official jerseys ahead of Vancouver Island trek
The 2026 Tour de Rock team held a jersey presentation at Camosun College on September 11, marking a major milestone following seven months of training. The 22-person team is scheduled to depart on September 19 for a 14-day cycling journey.
The trek will cover 1,200 kilometres across Vancouver Island to raise funds for childhood cancer research and support programs. Participants include West Shore RCMP Constable Mary-Ellen Somerville, a returning rider, and Greg Beatty, a paramedic with BCEHS from Port Alice.
Training for the event has involved rigorous preparation, including solo rides in secluded areas on the northern tip of the island.
