Milan Fretin wins Stage 3 of the Tour of Guangxi
Milan Fretin of Cofidis secured his first UCI WorldTour victory by winning the third stage of the Tour of Guangxi. The 212-kilometer stage from Jingxi to Bama concluded in a mass sprint where Fretin finished ahead of Frits Biesterbos (Picnic PostNL) and Jordi Meeus (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe).
The stage was marked by a mechanical mishap for race leader Paul Magnier. While positioned for a potential victory, Magnier’s foot unclipped from his pedal during the final sprint, causing him to lose momentum and fall out of contention.
Following the sprint, Frits Biesterbos moved into the overall race lead by utilizing time bonuses. The stage featured an early breakaway that was neutralized by the peloton approximately 25 kilometers before the finish line.
