Tourism and Ethnographic Film Festival begins in Malinska
The fourth edition of the Tourism and Ethnographic Film Festival (TEF) has commenced in Malinska, Croatia. This year's program is noted as the most extensive to date, focusing on the preservation of indigenous identities and traditions.
The festival opens with the documentary “Andrija Linardić, samo jedna kapljica – čitav oblak miomirisa,” directed by Sanjin Badurina. The film chronicles the life of Andrija Linardić, a cooper from Martinšćica on the island of Cres who became a global pioneer in the industrial distillation of essential oils from wild island plants, including rosemary in 1903 and immortelle in 1908.
Following the opening, the festival will feature “Countryman” by Australian filmmaker Peter Pecotić. The documentary explores the connection between Croatian and Aboriginal cultures through the story of Pecotić meeting Indigenous artist Joseph Williams in the Australian desert.
