Tourism and nature highlights in Barbados

Barbados offers diverse experiences ranging from regenerative nature reserves to family-owned luxury resorts.

In the Saint Joseph parish on the east coast, Coco Hill Forest serves as a 53-acre regenerative tropical forest and nature reserve. Founded by entrepreneur Mahmood Patel, the sanctuary has been replanted with over 40,000 trees, including native hardwoods, fruit trees, and over 100 species of coconut palm. The reserve features approximately 3 kilometers of looping trails, such as the Bamboo Cathedral, providing a microclimate significantly cooler than Bridgetown.

On the west coast near Holetown, the Coral Reef Club operates as a family-owned luxury resort. Spanning 12 acres of tropical gardens, the property includes 88 rooms, cottages, and suites. Managed by the O’Hara family since the 1950s, the resort features beachfront dining and accommodations designed with traditional island character, such as wooden shutters and decorative fretwork.
