Tourism associations in Peru support Machu Picchu ticketing changes

Tourism industry associations in Cusco have expressed support for the removal of the three-hour deadline for purchasing Machu Picchu tickets. In a joint statement released on October 9, the groups called on the Ministry of Culture to implement urgent improvements to the ticket sales platform.

Key demands include the creation of a differentiated platform for individual visitors and formal tour operators. The associations requested tools for managing multiple reservations, batch operations, transaction traceability, and secure, streamlined payments. They also emphasized the need for diverse payment methods beyond credit cards to avoid passing technological transition costs to users and businesses.

Additionally, the groups highlighted the necessity of an operational solution for the deferred and continuous sale of 2027 entries, specifically for the Inca Trail. They clarified that their request for operational improvements should not be viewed as a general rejection of the current platform, but rather a call for transparency, real availability, and equal conditions for all formal operators.
