Tourism development expands across Tara and Drina river regions

Regional tourism initiatives are enhancing adventure and historical attractions along the Tara and Drina rivers. In Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, a cross-border project titled ‘Tourism, Adrenaline and Rafting Adventure v. 2.0 – T.A.R.A v. 2.0’ recently hosted a FAM trip for journalists and travel professionals. The initiative, funded by the European Union, aims to promote Foča and Plužine as a unified destination for sustainable and active tourism through activities such as rafting on the Tara, zip-lining, and visiting the Sutjeska National Park.

In Serbia, the Perućac area has seen new developments to its historical sites. A walking path has been established around the Splavarska cave, a location historically used by rafters on the Drina River. The site now features informative displays detailing the region's rafting traditions and the Drina Regatta, a major annual water-based tourist event. These improvements aim to connect visitors with the local heritage and the natural beauty of the Drina riverbank.
