Spain tourism hits record spending in July 2026

Spain's tourism sector reached historic milestones in July 2026. According to data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), international tourist spending in the country rose 10.9% in July to approximately 18,218 million euros. For the first seven months of 2026, total international tourist spending reached 82,054 million euros, a 7.8% increase compared to the previous year.

International arrivals for the first seven months totaled 58.1 million tourists, a 4.6% increase year-on-year. The United Kingdom remains the primary market, followed by France and Germany.

Regional performance varied significantly. Catalonia was the most visited autonomous community through July, accounting for 18.9% of total national spending. In the rural tourism segment, Castilla-La Mancha recorded its best July ever with 50,762 travelers. Huelva also achieved a historic July, welcoming 180,468 travelers, driven largely by a 45% increase in Portuguese visitors. Conversely, the Canary Islands experienced a deceleration, with international arrivals in July falling by 0.7% compared to the previous year.
