Central American nations advance regional cooperation and tourism innovation

Central American nations are advancing regional cooperation through tourism innovation and strategic development plans. In Guatemala, the Innovation + Tourism Talk 2026 highlighted the role of artificial intelligence and sustainable practices in transforming the travel industry. Taiwan, represented by Ambassador Vivia Chang, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Central American Integration System (SICA) by sharing expertise and technological solutions to boost regional competitiveness.

Simultaneously, Nicaragua, acting as the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Mesoamerica Project, participated in the III Executive Commission Meeting. Member nations approved a work plan for the second half of 2026 aimed at fostering sustainable development, connectivity, food security, and innovation across the Mesoamerican region.

In Guatemala, the Technological Innovation Forum (FIT) 2026 is also facilitating digital transformation through specialized tracks in cybersecurity, IoT, and Industry 4.0. Meanwhile, Nicaragua is promoting domestic tourism through a series of cultural festivals and sporting events scheduled throughout the region.
