Tourism Innovation Summit in Sevilla generates over 23 million euros
The seventh edition of the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) concluded in Sevilla, generating over 23 million euros for the city. Held at Fibes from October 6 to 8, the event gathered 8,576 professionals from 34 countries, including 412 experts and 248 exhibiting companies.
Discussions focused on shifting tourism metrics from mere visitor numbers to the capacity for generating balanced value within local communities. Officials emphasized a humanistic approach to travel and the need for technology to drive useful, criteria-based decision-making. A session on rural tourism highlighted that while 94% of rural travelers are willing to pay for destination experiences, 80% face difficulties booking activities in advance, signaling a need for better digitalization.
During the summit, ILUNION Hotels announced its list of the ‘25 Most Innovative Professionals in the Tourism Sector 2026’. This initiative recognized individuals across various subsectors for applying new ideas that yield measurable results. The selection process involved over 170 candidates from 120 companies and institutions, evaluated by an independent jury on criteria such as innovative mindset, leadership, and technological use.
