Tourism leaders advocate for Central Europe as a single destination
Tourism leaders at the Euronews Travel & Tourism Summit have advocated for Central Europe to be marketed as a single, interconnected destination rather than a collection of separate national territories.
Speaking in Brussels, Olivér Csendes, president of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, and Sandrine Buffenoir of Atout France discussed the potential for closer international cooperation. Csendes noted that travelers are increasingly seeking to maximize their trips, a trend referred to as ‘trip-maxxing’. He argued that the short distances between European capitals allow for seamless multi-country itineraries, suggesting that the region should not limit its experience-building to national borders.
Csendes also highlighted the Danube River as a natural asset for cross-border tourism, serving as a cultural and physical link between multiple European nations. He emphasized that leveraging such shared landmarks could enrich the visitor experience and provide a more cohesive view of the continent.
