Tourism reputation declines in Cantabria and Castilla-La Mancha

Tourism reputation in several Spanish autonomous communities has declined during the second quarter of 2026, according to the LLYC Tourism Perception Barometer.

In Cantabria, the reputation score dropped from 8.1 points in the fourth quarter of 2025 to 6.8 points in the second quarter of 2026. The primary negative driver identified was the link between tourism growth and deteriorating access to housing. Other concerns included water shortages and the risk of ruinous investments.

Castilla-La Mancha also saw a decline, with its score falling from 7.4 in the first quarter to 6.9 in the second quarter. Negative factors cited include the expansion of tourist housing and its urban effects, the saturation of Toledo, and tourism products perceived as being of poor quality or manipulated.
