Tourism sector in Gaziantep faces decline and rising costs
The tourism sector in Turkey, particularly in regions like Gaziantep, is facing significant economic difficulties. İbrahim Halil Kılınç, President of TÜRSAB GAP BTK, reported a noticeable decline in tourist numbers, stating that business activity has dropped to levels lower than even the earthquake period.
Travel agencies are struggling to remain operational due to a widening gap between stagnant revenues and rising operational costs, including rent, taxes, and insurance premiums. This economic pressure is forcing agencies to downsize and reduce staff. The hotel sector is reportedly experiencing even higher rates of personnel layoffs as the industry faces an uncertain outlook.
