Tourism sectors in Croatia and Montenegro report growth and digital shifts
Tourism sectors in Croatia and Montenegro are reporting strong performance and focusing on technological advancement.
In Croatia, Minister of Tourism and Sport Tonči Glavina reported that September saw approximately 14.2 million overnight stays, a 3 percent increase compared to the previous year. For the first nine months of the year, tourist arrivals have risen by about 2 percent. Glavina noted that despite economic pressures and the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on European travelers' disposable income, the country has maintained positive results. To combat potential shifts in market demand, Croatia plans to launch its first national campaign for advent festivities and continue efforts to disperse tourism traffic.
In Montenegro, Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić announced that the country welcomed over 2.2 million tourists and recorded nearly 13 million overnight stays in the first eight months of the year, surpassing 2019 levels. Marking World Tourism Day, Montenegro is emphasizing digital transformation and artificial intelligence. Key initiatives include the establishment of a Tourist Information System (TIS), electronic registries for private accommodation, and the ‘Tourism 4.0’ project, which utilizes 3D modeling and digital reconstructions to enhance the presentation of cultural heritage sites.
