Tourism sectors in Puebla and Lima prepare for major economic boosts
The state of Puebla, Mexico, is preparing infrastructure, security, and urban beautification projects to host the Tianguis Turístico 2027. The event is expected to host over 8,000 attendees, including 3,500 buyers from 45 countries. Officials estimate the gathering could generate more than 1.38 billion pesos in economic impact and drive hotel occupancy above 90% in the metropolitan area. The strategy aims to expand activities beyond the main exhibition center to locations like Cholula and the city's Zócalo to showcase local culture and gastronomy.
In Peru, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) estimates that three upcoming BTS concerts in Lima will generate an economic impact of approximately US$ 18.7 million. The events are expected to draw 150,000 attendees, including over 50,000 tourists and excursionists. This influx is projected to benefit sectors such as transportation, lodging, food, and retail, with US$ 8.1 million attributed to receptive tourism and US$ 9.9 million to internal tourism.
