Tourism stakeholders in Bahamas and Belize focus on industry development
In the Bahamas, executives from the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) met with the newly appointed Minister of Tourism, Glenys Hanna Martin, and her leadership team. The discussions focused on critical issues facing the nation's primary industry, including workforce development, youth training, infrastructure improvements, and the expansion of airlift and stopover growth, particularly within the Family Islands.
In Belize, the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA), in partnership with the Placencia Tour Guide Association (PTGA), conducted marine conservation workshops for tour guides in southern Stann Creek. Part of a pilot project titled ‘Developing the Next Generation of Marine Conservationists,’ the training covered marine biodiversity, the impacts of climate change on coral reef ecosystems, and the Blue Economy to improve conservation attitudes and knowledge among local guides.
