Bodrum tourism workers strike over unpaid overtime

Tourism workers in Bodrum, specifically at Xuma Beach in the Yalıkavak district, have launched a strike to protest labor exploitation and poor working conditions.

According to the All Hotel and Tourism Workers Union (OTIS), employees reported working shifts of up to 18 hours, particularly on days when concerts are held. The workers are demanding the transparent calculation and full payment of unpaid overtime, noting that recent payments included unclear “overtime” and “bonus” items that do not reflect actual hours worked beyond the legal limits.

OTIS also reported that instead of addressing these grievances, the employer terminated several employees without severance pay, citing Article 25/II of the Labor Law. The union claims these terminations are unjustified and are an attempt to bypass the workers' legal demands.
