Tourist carries lost phone from Sha Tin to Zhuhai police station

A mainland Chinese tourist has gained social media attention after finding a mobile phone on a bus in Sha Tin, Hong Kong, and subsequently transporting it across the border to a police station in Zhuhai.

The individual reported finding the device while visiting Hong Kong and initially attempted to hand it to customs staff at the border. After being advised to contact the police, the tourist—who was traveling with a child—decided to carry the phone into the mainland to avoid delays late at night. The phone was eventually delivered to a public security station in Zhuhai the following morning.

The incident went viral on platforms like Xiaohongshu, Facebook, and Threads, as users discussed the logistical challenges of returning the device to its owner. While some commenters questioned why the phone was not left with the bus driver or at a border police post, many praised the tourist's intention to ensure the device was officially recorded to help the owner locate it via tracking or calls.
