Tourist dies in fall at Pha Taem National Park waterfall

A 48-year-old Thai woman died after falling more than 10 metres at Kuang Ton Waterfall in Pha Taem National Park, Ubon Ratchathani province. The incident occurred while the woman was attempting to take photographs at the waterfall’s second tier.

Rescue teams had to navigate approximately three kilometres of difficult terrain to reach the site. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the woman could not be revived. Her body was transported to the forensic department at Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital for further examination.

Pha Taem National Park officials noted that the victim was part of a group of 14 tourists. Authorities have issued warnings to visitors that rock surfaces and terraces near waterfalls can become extremely slippery during the rainy season due to algae growth.
