Tourist safety concerns rise in Ibiza and Brazil

Recent reports highlight various safety concerns for travelers in popular tourist destinations. In Ibiza, a video went viral showing a Scottish tourist named Luis attempting a dangerous maneuver to move from an anchored yacht to the shore in San Antonio. After using an unsecured boarding plank, he struck his face on the quay and fell into the sea. Despite the impact, he reportedly suffered only a minor cut and continued his evening at a local nightclub.

In Brazil, authorities and social media warnings are drawing attention to the ‘Boa noite, Cinderela’ (Goodnight, Cinderella) scam. This drug-facilitated crime involves spiking drinks with substances such as GHB, scopolamine, benzodiazepines, or ketamine to induce passivity and anterograde amnesia. Victims often appear intoxicated or disoriented, allowing criminals to access their personal information or bank details. The Brazilian Scientific Police warn that combining these sedatives with alcohol significantly increases the risk of the intended criminal outcome.
