Tous reports 58% profit plunge as gold prices surge
The Catalan jewelry group Tous posted a 58% decline in net profit for 2025, down to €18.6 million, with revenue falling 5% to €493 million and EBITDA dropping 19% to €92.3 million. The downturn is attributed to a historic rise in gold and silver prices—gold prices doubled and silver prices tripled since 2023—and adverse currency movements, especially the Mexican peso and the US dollar, which increased material costs and squeezed margins by 7.7%.
In response, Tous launched a new strategic plan aimed at restoring growth. President Alba Tous said the company will accelerate product development, redesign stores, target younger consumers with new communication formats, and incorporate AI into design and operations. The plan also calls for expanding internationally from 2027 after a period of limited retail growth.
