Tove Jansson’s Moomin tale adapted for Czech Radio

Czech Radio has presented a radio dramatization of Tove Jansson’s magical tale, ‘The Magician’s Hat’. Adapted by Marie Špalová, the production explores the chaotic events in Moominvalley after the characters find a powerful wizard’s top hat.

The story features a diverse cast, including Ondřej Brousek as the narrator and Miloslav König as Moomintroll. The adaptation highlights the themes of openness and understanding toward different cultures through the arrival of the characters Hemulen and Sniff, as well as the mysterious Píská and Kníkla.

According to Marie Špalová, while Jansson’s world can host frightening and strange occurrences, the inhabitants of Moominvalley consistently welcome new beings into their community with openness.
