Towngas and PolyU partner on blockchain platform for green fuels

The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have signed a cooperation agreement to develop a blockchain-based management platform for green fuels and chemicals.

The platform will initially be deployed at the production facilities of VENEX, a Towngas Group subsidiary, located in Inner Mongolia and Foshan. The system is designed to manage the entire lifecycle of green products, covering feedstock procurement, production operations, certification, logistics, and end-use applications.

By utilizing blockchain technology, the initiative aims to establish digital identities and electronic certification mechanisms to ensure full-process traceability. The platform is intended to prevent the forgery of inspection reports and certificates, thereby enhancing the international recognition of green product certifications and providing a digital foundation for green finance and product trading.
