Townies releases new song ‘Wednesday’ in response to Wednesday’s ‘Townies’

The Los Angeles-based band Townies has released a new single titled ‘Wednesday’ as a musical response to the song ‘Townies’ by the band Wednesday. The track, released on August 12 through Brain Synthesizer, is described as an angsty emo song featuring heavy guitar riffs and a melodic structure.

The reciprocal release follows a signal from Townies members Tom Lynch, Chris Magnani, and Nolan Melia during the release of their album ‘Bleeds’ last September. The original song by Wednesday, ‘Townies’, was written by frontwoman Karly Hartzman regarding a friend's experience with sexual rumors and humiliation during their teenage years.
