Toxic film faces major setback with low OTT offers

The film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups’, starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas, is facing significant financial setbacks following an underwhelming theatrical performance. Despite grossing over ₹300 crore globally within 13 days, the film has struggled to recover its estimated ₹500 crore production budget.

Reports indicate that the digital rights for the film have seen a massive valuation drop. While the makers initially sought deals exceeding ₹200 crore and previously turned down offers of approximately ₹150 crore, streaming platforms are now reportedly offering as little as ₹30 crore for the rights across all languages. Zee5 has reportedly made the highest offer to date.

In an attempt to mitigate losses and attract better digital offers, the production team is reportedly considering creating a separate edit of the film specifically for its OTT release. Additionally, the film's adult-oriented content is expected to limit the potential revenue from satellite television rights.
