Toy Industry Embraces Educational “Inspiring Inventors” Trend
NBC News Daily featured Toy Insider editor Marissa Silva showcasing a range of educational toys, including Skillmatics cutting kits, Magna‑Tiles number sets, Dice Words word‑building game and GraviTrax Junior marble‑run system, highlighting products that blend play with learning.
The Toy Association identified “Inspiring Inventors” as a top toy trend of the year, noting a shift toward toys that foster critical thinking, experimentation and open‑ended creativity. A survey of U.S. parents found 78 % want more toys that develop creativity and critical thinking, and 96 % say they prioritize buying at least one educational toy for birthdays or other gifts. The trend is driven by demand for modular building systems, STEAM activities, invention kits and other hands‑on play experiences. The global STEM toy market is projected to nearly double between 2024 and 2034, underscoring sustained growth in the sector.
