Toy industry identified for major tariff relief in US-China trade deal

The U.S.-China Board of Trade has identified approximately $30 billion in Chinese goods for potential tariff relief, with the toy industry emerging as the largest category within the framework. Toys account for roughly $9.8 billion of the identified imports, qualifying as non-sensitive goods under the new trade structure.

The White House and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative have confirmed that these products are being considered for lower duties, subject to legal and administrative processes. Chinese officials have indicated that more than 90% of the products covered by the reciprocal framework could potentially receive most-favored-nation (MFN) rates once domestic procedures are completed.

The Toy Association described the development as a ‘historic win’ for American companies, noting that 96% of the industry consists of small businesses. While the designation provides a path toward significant relief, the final U.S. tariff rates and specific implementation dates have not yet been confirmed.
