Toy Story 5 adds new Mr. Potato Head voice, cuts Tamagotchi

Jeff Bergman took over the role of Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story 5, succeeding Don Rickles. He explained the handoff on CBS Saturday Morning on June 27, shortly after the film’s June 19 theatrical release. Pixar describes the sequel as “Toy meets Tech,” highlighting the toys’ clash with modern screens.

Co‑director Kenna Harris disclosed that a Tamagotchi character was originally scripted for the movie but was removed for “practical business reasons” tied to rights clearance. The scene had been fully recorded, including a villain line voiced by Conan O’Brien, before being cut from the final edit.
