Toy Story 5 launches with record $312 million opening and major hospital charity drive
Toy Story 5 premiered on June 19 2026, generating an estimated $312 million worldwide in its opening weekend – $160 million in the United States and $152 million overseas – making it the largest global debut of the year. Disney highlighted the franchise’s extensive revenue ecosystem, noting that the first four films have earned more than $3 billion globally, with two surpassing $1 billion each, providing a strong financial foundation for the sequel.
In parallel with the box‑office success, Disney and the Starlight Children’s Foundation expanded their long‑standing “Disney Movie Moments” program. The film’s rollout enabled screenings in more than 400 children’s hospitals worldwide, including over 300 in the United States. Disney distributed more than 18,000 Toy Story‑themed toys and 34,000 character‑inspired hospital gowns to patients and families. At the Los Angeles premiere, cast members wrote personal encouragement notes for hospitalized children, which were later displayed in hospitals across Washington, D.C., Oakland, Orlando and other locations.
